Welcome...
Hi, I guess I had better introduce myself.
For those who are new here, my name is Louise. I ham a personal trainer, fitness pilates, aquatic fitness and studio fitness instructor. I manage Essence Studio in Annan and have been in business about 4 years with my Personal Training side of the business and roughly 2 years in my studio.
Its been an interesting journey to get to where I am. Originally, I actually studied Health, Fitness and Exercise in College but at the time the area I was living in was saturated with highly experienced trainers and I found it difficult to find a job in the industry.
I had always been interested in joining the Army (much to the disappointment of my family) so I did that instead (the wee rebel that I am, haha!). But it turned out to be the best thing for me. It opened up experiences for me and places I never would have never seen had I remained in my hometown in the central belt of Scotland.
It opened up a love for circuit training and multiple sports which was fantastic to be able to partake in as a young soldier, I think after I left the army after having my first child I knew I would fall back into fitness as a career eventually. And, I did.
I took up my Personal Trainer course through WABBA Qualifications tutored by the amazing Alan Runacres. The original PT as he is best known.
I also qualified as an exercise to music instructor, but found that the co-ordination required was just not really my forte. So, I expanded my group fitness qualifications to circuits and aquatic fitness where I really found my passion.
During Covid I ran a Bootcamp style class once the inital restrictions were lifted. It went well. I went on to train in BARRE and Fitness Pilates. I ran Fitness Pilates classes at various venues through the week and additionally Aquatic Fitness Classes from Solway swim in Annan. After a while I felt the need to have my own space for classes and decided to open Essence Studio in Annan. Probably the best decision I have made in the 4 years I have been self employed. It feels like I have something substantial now, something - dare I say it PERMANENT!
Since then I have qualified and introduced Fitness Pilates Reformer classes to the studio (I have 4 reformers currently). And, I have the pleasure of having other instructors use the studio for their own classes too. I love that I have brought a space for actual classes to Annan, not another gym just - a space to move.
Anyway, enough talking for now. I dont want to go on too much in this blog as it is the first I have ever written. But keep an eye on here and you might read more from me.
